Brevard County Child Custody Lawyers

Merritt Island Visitation Lawyers

Determining child custody arrangements is often the most highly contested part of a divorce. If the parents cannot agree on a parenting plan with the help of attorneys or mediators, the court will make the final custody determination. Because the judge does not know the child or parents, this is the solution of last resort.

For experienced help with parenting plans, contact Caruso Swerbilow & Camerota PA. Our family law attorneys will work closely with you to find a solution that is best for the child and agreeable to all parties. We understand that this can be a very difficult decision. You and your family will be treated with compassion and respect as we work through this process. To make an appointment, please call 321-684-4815 or contact us online.

Time Sharing and Parenting Plans

Under Florida law, "parental responsibility and time sharing" is the legal term for child custody and visitation. The court considers many factors when deciding on time sharing. The specifics of each case must be considered to determine what is in the best interest of the child. A preference for mothers over fathers or a 50/50 time sharing arrangement is no longer the standard. Each case is unique. We can help you create your strongest argument for the time sharing arrangement you want.

Florida child custody law requires divorcing parents to create a parenting plan. This plan must specify the following information:

  • Relocation — where the children will live
  • Who will be the primary and secondary residential parents
  • How parents will share responsibility for child rearing
  • The time sharing arrangements
  • The responsibilities for health care, school and extracurricular activities
  • How the parents will communicate with each other

We have helped hundreds of parents create parenting plans and can assist you, too.

Our family law attorneys can also discuss custody and visitation for parents who were never married, stepparents and grandparents. Please call our office at 321-684-4815 to schedule an appointment with our Brevard County child custody attorneys.
